The Public Benefit Enterprise of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, supporting non-formal learning and new technologies, implements in the five Centers for Creative Employment of Children in collaboration with infolearn and TEST4U seminars on "Learning to operate and program DRONES».
The seminars are addressed to 2 age groups of students:
Pupils aged 9-10 and students aged 11-12.
The youngest students get acquainted with him handling of Drones as well as by programming with use of optical blocks in Greek environment, while the slightly older students, in addition to operating the Drones, are also introduced to Python programming language.
Learning programming has no age. The programming way of thinking is taught in practice through the innovative and very interesting program to attract and maintain the interest of young children.
The programming skills taught contribute to the development of critical thinking and will help children become familiar with new technologies, not only in terms of use, but also in terms of understanding the way in which technology frames and serves the needs of the modern way of life.
Children have the opportunity to experiment with very light Drones (80 grams) which are programmable and suitable for educational use under the supervision of certified trainers, while for learning code and practicing mobile phones, tablets, or computers are used. All equipment along with safety goggles are provided to all children participating in the program.
