We inform every interested party that the "KEDITH Cisco Academy" of the Public Benefit Enterprise of the Municipality of Thessaloniki (KEDITH) will offer for the second time the FREE educational program on the basic principles of PC connection to networks. The program will start on March 29 and will be completed by June 18, 2021 (a total of 70 hours of attendance). The program will be monitored online every Monday and Wednesday between 18.00 - 21.00.

Basic principles of connecting computers to networks
Imagine assembling a PC and then connecting it securely to a network. These exciting first steps lead you to a career in IT. Because one way to stand out - no matter what IT specialty you choose - is to learn the basics of computers. The IT Essentials course teaches you exactly that, but also analyzes the professional skills required for entry-level work in this field.
Upon completion of the program you will be able to perform the following tasks:
-Choose the appropriate Hardware to compose, repair and upgrade PC,
-Install and configure Hardware to compose, repair and upgrade PCs,
-To solve problems on PC,
-Explain how the communication of the computers in a network takes place,
- Configure devices to communicate on a local network,
-To solve problems on laptops and mobile devices,
Install a printer that meets an organization's specifications,
-Describe what Virtualization and Cloud Computing are,
Install the Windows Operating System,
-Manage and maintain the Windows Operating System,
-Explain how the configuration is done, how the security is applied and how the Troubleshooting of Operating Systems for mobile devices, for the MacOS Operating System and for the Linux Operating System is carried out,
-Apply basic security techniques for PC, data and local area networks,
-Know the specialties and responsibilities of a professional in the field of IT.

Certificate of Attention, Digital Badge and Certification
After successfully attending the program and the relevant exams (eg 14 capital exams, 5 checkpoint exams, 1 final exam, etc.), you will receive a certificate of attendance (Certification of Completion). You can also receive a letter of merit signed by Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins, if your score is at least 75% in the overall final exam.
In addition, the program offers you a Digital Badge (digital certificate), which can be posted on your online profile (eg LinkedIn), in your CV, but also sent to your prospective employer. The Digital Badge certifies in a safe and verifiable way your areas of education, but also the training provider. Cisco Professional Digital Signal Collection can be viewed on the Credly - Acclaim platform.
Finally, after completing the course, you can take the CompTIA A + (Computing Technology Industry Association) certification exam. The exams are conducted by the independent Pearson VUE organization and the costs for the exams are covered by the candidate.
Participants
The program is aimed at anyone interested in expanding their computer skills either for personal use or to work as a computer technician in companies, public services, educational institutions or as freelancers in the field of computer technical support.
There is no prerequisite IT knowledge from Cisco for participation. Due to the level of the program, the interested parties are required to be high school graduates and have a good knowledge of English.
The maximum number of participants will be 16 people.
Venue / Method of conduct
The course will be done online through modern and asynchronous distance learning tools under the guidance of a specialized teacher. There will be required assignments each week in addition to 6 hours of attendance (up to 20 hours of personal study / week). The lessons will be done in Greek, while all the curriculum that is in English is given electronic access.
Application form
For the participation of those interested in the program, the completion of a relevant electronic application is required by March 22, 2021. The position will be secured in order of priority. Prerequisite is that the interested parties are residents or citizens of the Municipality of Thessaloniki.
